SCHOOL LEADERSHIP TEAM

The core responsibility of the SLT is to develop the school’s Comprehensive Educational Plan (CEP) that is aligned with the school-based budget and to serve as an advisory group to the principal.

All New York City public schools are required to have a School Leadership Team (SLT) To contact the SLT, please email slt@ps11bk.org or leave a note in SLT mailbox in PS 11’s main office.  

OUR MISSION AND VISION

The primary mission of the School Leadership Team (SLT) at  PS 11 is to oversee the development of the school’s Comprehensive Education Plan (CEP) and make decisions about the budget that allow the CEP to be implemented each school year.. The SLT also supports the schools education model of a "Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child" This encompasses a cultural responsive and collaborative approach to learning. The SLT supports PS 11 in accomplishing this by providing our children with a comprehensive child-centered curriculum that is sensitive to individual learning needs and styles, as well as celebrates and cultivates individual strengths and interests through a standards based curriculum, which includes a rich enrichment programs. 

Our vision is to support PS 11’s commitment to encourage students to be  viable contributors to society who will grow to appreciate and cherish their own uniqueness as well as that of the world around them and beyond. We believe that it takes all stakeholders at PS 11: administrators, teachers and parents, working collaboratively to create a school where all our children can flourish and reach their fullest potential, today and always. 

Our SLT aims to function in a collaborative manner as we also help to evaluate the effectiveness of the school’s educational programs and their impact on student achievement, as well as their social and emotional development among other initiatives. 

As we continue to partner collaboratively with the school community, the SLT over the years at PS 11 has often served as a “think tank” for several of the amazing additions to our school community we now enjoy today!  This includes our School Wellness Council, parent workshops, tackling educational initiatives (i.e. PS 11 Dads) and our SLT Sip & Chats! Sip & Chats are an opportunity to connect with admin and parent leadership informally to share what’s on your mind and most important to you! 

Meetings

SLT meetings are held monthly generally via zoom with the aim of hosting at least two in person. SLT meetings are open to all current parents and caregivers whom would like to listen in.

PS 11 SLT bylaws were amended and approved on November 6, 2024 and was filed with the principal’s office. Signatories include:

All provisions of these bylaws are pursuant to CR-A-665 and Department of Education guidelines. SLT bylaws are reviewed annually.  

Membership

The three mandatory members of the SLT are the school’s principal, the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) President OR their designee and the United Federation of Teachers (UFT) Chapter Leader. The remaining members of the team shall consist of elected parents and nominated staff members.
