HYDROPONICS & GARDEN SCIENCE
Over the years our cultivating our students' green thumb through our garden science program at PS 11 has evolved from its original outdoor garden to a fully comprehensive agriculture and life science syllabus that is fully embedded in our core curriculum. Our current program encompasses PreK - 3rd grade with modules on garden science, nutrition, culinary arts and hydroponics with BIG plans for expansion to our remaining upper grades and so much more!
LEARNING TO SWIM
PS 11 is excited to offer school year long swimming classes to all 2nd and 3rd graders! PS 11 has partnered with Imagine Swimming, the premier NYC swim school for these lessons for the last two school years. Students attend once a week during the school day to learn how to swim technique, swim safety and more!
3RD-5TH GRADE, OUR VERY OWN YOUNG COMPOSERS
PS 11 has enjoyed partnering with the New York Philharmonic and their Very Young Composers Program since 2014! Select students from our 3rd, 4th and 5th grades each year work under the tutelage of members of the esteemed New York Philharmonic Orchestra. They diligently labor to produce their own original pieces of music! Each year we get an opportunity to experience their efforts come to fruition and sometimes often performed right here in PS 11 by members of the Philharmonic!
DANCE & DJEMBE DRUMMING RESIDENCIES
PS 11 partners with the incredible Alvin Ailey alumni Sherece Donalds, and Brother Matt to provide weekly dance lessons and djembe drumming lessons to our students. They provide a comprehensive introduction to both dance as a technique and a culturally historical and creative art form for all to enjoy.
