COMMITTEES
ENGAGING OUR PARENTS TO SUPPORT OUR TEACHERS AND SCHOLARS
There are many standing, and ad-hoc committees led by PS 11 parents.
Learn more about just some of the ways you can get involved below and sign up to volunteer today!
Fundraising Committees
Raise 11: PS 11’s biggest fundraiser is our Raise 11 auction - a night of food, drinks and fun bidding on curated items donated by our community including parents, local businesses and national retailers and corporations. Our PS11 volunteers help procure donations, manage the venue and programs, work with catering or entertainment, and manage the live and silent auctions.
Grants: PS 11 makes a concerted effort to focus on raising money from foundations, corporations and other donors to support the many enrichment opportunities PS 11 offers students inside and outside of the classroom. Grant writers and researchers are always needed.

Community Engagement Committees
New Parents: Interested in welcoming new parents to PS 11? The New Parent Committee organizes activities throughout the summer and fall to introduce PS 11’s newly admitted families to our school community.
School Wellness Council: The School Wellness Council (SWC) is an advisory group of the School Leadership Team (SLT) concerned with the health and well-being of students, staff and the school community. SWC helps develop and implement a school-wide health and wellness policy and more. If you are passionate about health and wellness, come join us or email schoolwellness@ps11bk.org for more information.
Spring Fest: PS 11 puts on a festival for families with rides, food, games and music. This outdoor event is a blast for the entire community.

Academic and Cultural Enrichment Committees
Book Bash: PS 11 hosts the Book Bash where local children’s book authors and illustrators visit our classrooms to share and discuss their craft. Children can pre-order books featured for the event and have them autographed by the author/illustrator.
Garden: PS 11 has a robust garden science program, and we need families to help tend to the garden and with fundraising and physical work towards capital improvements.
5th Grade: Assist the administration with organizing trips and activities for the 5th grade, including the DC overnight trip, the college tour trip and the senior 'Friendship Dance.'
Scholars Reception: Organizes the annual reception for PS 11 students who achieve a score of 3 or better on both the state ELA and math exams.
Scholastic Book Fair: Organizes PS 11’s annual week-long book fair during the fall to support and embrace literacy and learning. Volunteers help with decorating, set up, sales, stocking of books and helping our little ones make book selections.
