AT PS 11, PARENTS & CAREGIVERS HAVE MANY OPPORTUNITIES TO ACTIVELY ENGAGE IN THE SCHOOL’S GOVERNANCE, OPERATIONS & EVENTS.
Opportunities to engage at PS 11 are plentiful and include:
The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) here at PS 11 cultivates an enriching environment for students through engagement, events, fundraising and more! All parents, step-parents, legally appointed guardians, foster parents and persons in parental relation are automatically members of their school’s PTA. Parents/Caregivers are elected to become members of the PTA Executive Board by the parent body the governing arm of the PTA.
The School Leadership Team (SLT) unites parents/caregivers administration and staff to focus on implementing the DOE Comprehensive Education Plan and other key school wide initiatives. Parents/Caregivers are elected to become members of the SLT by the parent body.
The School Wellness Council (SWC) is an advisory group of the SLT concerned with a emphasis on supporting the overall health and well-being of students, staff and the school community. The Council helps develop and implement a school-wide health and wellness policies and more!
Lastly, In addition to the PTA, SLT and SWC there are many ad-hoc committees led by PS 11 parents for a number of needs/events and to simply volunteer wherever needed. Sign up to volunteer as we always welcome support for our school community!
